Soil Warming Cables

Parasene Soil Warming Cables are excellent for providing the heat necessary for the propagation of seeds and cuttings or to simply prevent frost damage.

They are economical to run and can be used with or without the addition of the Parasene Thermostat

A simple frame can be constructed from wooden planks to form the propagating area required, this is then lined with polythene. The cable should be laid onto 2” of sharp sand and then covered with a further 2” of sharp sand.

Assuming that the cables are laid between 3 & 4 inches apart you will be able to increase the soil temperature by 20ºF to 25 ºF. You may run the cables as close together as 2 inches in order to achieve higher temperatures.

You may use the cables without a thermostat as they have a thermal cut-out point of 78ºF – However, in order to meet the differing germination requirements of various seed varieties, you may need to control the soil temperature more precisely and in these cases it is recommended that you do use a Thermostat
