Elite Price rises from 1st February

We have to announce that due to global price rises on raw materials Elite will be increasing prices by 12% on the 1st of February.

We are sad to have to announce that Elite Greenhouses will be increasing prices by 12% across the whole range starting from the 1st of February. However as we are still fully open it would be an ideal time to come down and see the full range and order at the old prices all through January. This applies to all orders placed in store, online and over the telephone.

The statement and full explanation from Elite is below, it is totally understandable as no manufacturer can absorb such huge material cost increases and stay in business.

"Unfortunately I am unable to start the year with good news in regard to the greenhouse market. As you may have read or been made aware, there is great uncertainty in the cost of raw materials and this has had a knock on effect to the cost of the greenhouses.

The price of glass, both toughened and horticultural, have risen enormously (by as much as 50%) in the last 12 months and at present it is not showing any signs of slowing down. We are almost dealing with the perfect storm with COVID 19 and Brexit happening at the same time and this is undoubtedly the major reason for the increases in the market. Shipping lines and ports are under tremendous pressure and they are not processing vessels as quickly as they would like, and so the costs associated with this are massively affected.  We buy a lot of glass from more local sources and this is still available, but they are also affected by the issues detailed above, so their prices are much higher than bulk buying from regular suppliers.

Many other materials have also seen a sharp rise in price and lead time such as cardboard and some plastics to name two.

With all of that in mind, it is with much regret that I write to inform you that for ALL orders placed with Elite from 1st February 2021 onwards we need to apply a 12% price increase across the board (excluding delivery charge).  Although we would like to give more notice for a price increase, all of the material costs for Elite have already risen, therefore we are having to absorb the increase on the cost of materials on all outstanding orders.

I appreciate that this is a significant rise and is out of keeping with our normal policy, but the decision was taken reluctantly and is made out of necessity. We hope that the glass prices will return to more reasonable levels later this year, and we will continue to monitor this with an intention to review the trade prices once more."
